WHAT YOU’LL BE HANDLING
- Define the PLC areas in collaboration with the Project Manager Controls, System Engineers, IT Project manager, and System Integration Manager.
- Assist with developing ComC Engineers and Apprentices' technical ability, supporting them with meeting project budgets and deadlines through regular reviews and mentoring.
- Play an active role in the detailed layout review (SIM review), ensuring that feedback from the commissioning of previous projects is captured.
- Collaborate with the IT department when creating communication points documents.
- Review Controls FDS and Estop matrix and provide insights to Project Manager Controls.
- Create the PLC module lists.
- Support ComC Engineers with daily technical questions.
- Support ComC Lead with project tasks.
- Track PLC library changes and organise update implementations for projects.
- Collaborate with the PD department to get the latest information about changes and updates.
- Be a subject matter expert (SME) for ULC, CTC and STS systems.
- Be an SME for Drive Commander software.
- Generate software for PLCs.
- Own bespoke software creation.
- Create complex emulation models.
- Emulate or assist with emulation for complex PLCs.
- Validate PLC Software and Emulations.
- Oversee the creation of SAV.
- When required, support the Commissioning team and LTS remotely.
- Create PLC sub-testing plans.
- Prepare pre-site documentation, check sheets and manuals for the commissioning team.
- Track the Red pen process.
- Set up site infrastructure before commissioning (Network panel, SAV server, internet).
- Collaborate with clients to remove barriers in setting up site infrastructure.
- Support the ComC Lead with onsite software issues.
- Carry out audits of commissioning and document common issues.
- Substitute for ComC Lead when required.
- Clearly communicate with the Project Manager Controls, Controls Services Manager(s) and ComC’s.
- Follow the required software revision and backup process and ensure all others within your team follow the process.
- Ensure all changes or modifications are fed back to the project team and design department.
- Comply with all current health & safety legislation and promote a positive health & safety culture
- Be an ambassador for delivering TGW NE controls and actively promote company standards and best practices.
- Work with the Controls Services Manager(s) and broader team to develop and maintain best practices and guidance, promoting
- continuous process improvements and efficiency.
- Liaison product development, module experts, suppliers and customers on technical matters
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Ability to work within, lead and co-ordinate teams.
- Proven experience generating PLC code (ideally using Siemens PLCs).
- Knowledge and experience in commissioning and testing automated systems.
- High level of understanding of control systems (including but not limited to: Networking & hardware components, Fieldbus technology, i.e. Profibus, Profinet, ASi
- Motion control via inverters and servo drives.
- Knowledge of functional safety programming.
- Background in material handling/conveyor industry or similar.
- Ability to design and develop HMI & SCADA systems.
- Previous experience in Emulating PLC systems.
- Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure and show initiative.
