Resident Engineering Team Leader - Tamworth

The Resident Team Leader serves as the primary point of contact for the customer on all automation-related matters. They bring a broad technical skill set spanning electrical, mechanical, facilities management and software, combined with a right‑first‑time mindset and a proactive approach to enhancing site performance.

Working on the customer’s premises, the Resident Team Leader is expected to consistently represent the TGW brand, ensuring a professional presence and maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship with the client.

WHAT YOU’LL BE HANDLING

Lead and manage a team of Resident Engineers and Technicians, ensuring full accountability for delivering all contracted KPIs.
Coordinate all maintenance activities across automated equipment (planned, reactive, and repairs), including conveyors, elevators, spirals, shuttles, and related systems.
Support and optimise automation performance to maximise efficiency and protect order fulfilment, while continually improving equipment reliability and ways of working.
Prepare and complete all contractual reports using SCADA, TS, WCS, CMMS, and Microsoft applications, and attend daily customer meetings to provide operational updates.
Collaborate closely with the customer and engineering mobile teams to align engineering activity, resolve breakdowns, and escalate issues with a right‑first‑time and operationally minded approach.
Ensure full compliance with all current and future health and safety legislation at all times.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Minimum NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds/ BTEC in an engineering discipline
Previous experience of working in an operational engineering role within a similar environment
Demonstrated ability for problem solving
Experience of working with Warehouse Management Systems is preferable
Excellent communication skills and customer focus
Ability to work in a time critical environment
Experience of managing small teams on a customer site
