Resident Engineering Team Leader - Tamworth
The Resident Team Leader serves as the primary point of contact for the customer on all automation-related matters. They bring a broad technical skill set spanning electrical, mechanical, facilities management and software, combined with a right‑first‑time mindset and a proactive approach to enhancing site performance.
Working on the customer’s premises, the Resident Team Leader is expected to consistently represent the TGW brand, ensuring a professional presence and maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship with the client.
WHAT YOU’LL BE HANDLING
- Lead and manage a team of Resident Engineers and Technicians, ensuring full accountability for delivering all contracted KPIs.
- Coordinate all maintenance activities across automated equipment (planned, reactive, and repairs), including conveyors, elevators, spirals, shuttles, and related systems.
- Support and optimise automation performance to maximise efficiency and protect order fulfilment, while continually improving equipment reliability and ways of working.
- Prepare and complete all contractual reports using SCADA, TS, WCS, CMMS, and Microsoft applications, and attend daily customer meetings to provide operational updates.
- Collaborate closely with the customer and engineering mobile teams to align engineering activity, resolve breakdowns, and escalate issues with a right‑first‑time and operationally minded approach.
- Ensure full compliance with all current and future health and safety legislation at all times.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds/ BTEC in an engineering discipline
- Previous experience of working in an operational engineering role within a similar environment
- Demonstrated ability for problem solving
- Experience of working with Warehouse Management Systems is preferable
- Excellent communication skills and customer focus
- Ability to work in a time critical environment
- Experience of managing small teams on a customer site
