Senior Retrofit Project Engineer
The Senior Project Engineer - Retrofit is a key member of the Project Realisation function. They manage and provide the necessary engineering detail so that our solutions can be built safely, cost effectively and to all relevant standards. They are responsible for leading the development of engineered solutions – individually or as the Lead Engineer for a small team on larger projects - from customer commitment through implementation to handover with the verification of system design to ensure compliance with current legislation.
WHAT YOU’LL BE HANDLING
- Review of design operational feasibility
- Identify added value opportunities and value engineering of the solution to ensure the budget is realised
- Identify cost-saving opportunities for TGW
- Prepare system layouts and GA’s and site installation packs
- Prepare detailed specifications, design documents, and technical section of ITT's
- Review of equipment design and specifications to ensure standardisation of design across all projects
- Ensure that the right TGW equipment is used (Technical detail engineering)
- Support the continuous improvement process within your area
- Review of equipment throughputs and capacities
- Technical analysis of tender returns
- Develop the design risk assessments and the review of projects to ensure that all current legislation is fully complied with
- Maintain a working knowledge of the regulations of the local authorities and ensure designing to the relevant BS / EN standards
- Participation in regular design team reviews, project reviews, and customer meetings
- Surveying of sites and installations
- Assist in the preparation of Health & Safety files / technical files. Provide technical sales support and general management of project documentation
- Maintain and develop departmental processes to ensure a continuous drive towards improving efficiency
- Training and supervising other Project Engineering team members, aiding their progression to Senior Project Engineer level
- Lead projects from a Project Engineering perspective and ensure own tasks and tasks of others are completed accurately and on time
- Assist the Presales Team before the project award to ensure that the sold solution meets current TGW standards and requirements
- Monitor project budgets every week to ensure that the costs to complete stay within the project allocated budget
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Required
- Educated to at least HNC level in Engineering
- Experience in a similar role, ideally in a Materials Handling environment
- Experienced CAD user
- Strong MS Office experience, including Excel and Project
- Cost awareness
- Excellent Communication skills and the ability to work in a team
- Ability to work to precise and structured methods
Preferred
- Experience of completing 3D layouts
