Business Development Manager - Retrofit
The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading and driving business development activities for TGW's Retrofit business within the Northern European region. It focuses on identifying, developing, and promoting opportunities across key sectors—including apparel, grocery, and industrial and consumer goods—with the overarching objective of ensuring full visibility of all relevant retrofit projects and market opportunities.
The position encompasses the proactive generation and advancement of retrofit-related opportunities, including modification, modernizations and extensions for both existing and prospective customers. Acting as a key contributor to the sales process, the Business Development Manager supports customer engagement and guides them in addressing changing operational needs through tailored intralogistics solutions, ultimately strengthening TGW's market presence and growth in the region.
WHAT YOU’LL BE HANDLING
- Lead and represent TGW Northern Europe during the process Retrofit lead generation
- Forge, develop and maintain relationships with new and pre-existing TGW customers
- Seek out business development opportunities in areas of obsolescence, end of life, modernisation, general upgrades, introduce new TGW products & technology or extensions to existing intralogistics solutions in the Northern Europe region
- Use of existing knowledge and experience of TGW’s products, systems and solutions to help guide potential customers in their pursuit of Retrofit upgrades or extensions
- Understand and develop sales strategies for navigating complex decision-making processes
- Prepare concept solutions, Rough order of Magnitude costings, and budget quotations, assisted by Retrofit Sales resources
- Advise customers on ‘high-level’ processes and timescales related to the delivery of Retrofit upgrades or extensions
- Organise and undertake ‘go / no go’ meetings for business development opportunities where concept layouts and or Rough order of Magnitude prices are required
- Ensure timely management of pre-tender activities in line with the customer’s requests or needs
- Provide insight and analysis of forthcoming opportunities, customer mind-sets, best practices, and dealing with customers, plus opportunities that may open up new territories or market sectors
- Work with trusted partners and 3rd party suppliers to support our concept and budget quotation process
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Several years of experience in a similar position (solutions design, engineering, or pre-sales/sales background)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships, new and pre-existing
- To lead team members in the development and production of concepts and budget quotations
- Excellent presentation competence
- Ability to create budget quotation packs/documentation using standard templates
- Strong internal and external stakeholder management experience
- Sales negotiation experience
- Knowledge of intralogistics and TGW’s product and solution portfolio
- Willingness to travel locally (regular) and internationally (occasionally)
